How important is blog posting for SEO results?
If you are looking for a way to get free exposure and traffic this is definitely the way to go. Believe me I know I have plenty of my blog links on the top of the major search engines. And I was surprised at how easy it was after I finally figured it out.
Now I am no SEO expert but after years of blogging and trial & error I figured out to get my blog posts to the top of the major search engines, especially Google. This is my view and experience as to why I think it is happening.
First of all my blog has been around for a few years so it has some aged SEO rankings and has been been spidered everyday for those few years. So just by that alone it has some authority with search engine optimization. I am not sure if this has anything to do with it but this blog is also self hosted, not on a Word Press server. My blog is hosted by Hostgator
Secondly I learned the extreme impotence of keywords and the power of keywords in SEO. Also how important title tags are. You want keywords in your title tag of the particular post page. Also the first 3-4 words should be the main keywords for that blog post title, because that is the way people do searches on the engines.
Also use keywords throughout your post or article. Don’t keyword stuff your post do about 7-10 keywors per 500 word article or post. Also use different keywords for main topic which gives the search engines more to grab for the particlular topic. Don’t underestimate the importence of using keywords. Also if you have any images in your blog post put a keyword in the image code.

You also want to ping your blog to some pinging services so the search engines know your blog has been updated with a blog post. The one I use is called pingomatic and is FREE
That’s it not much to it, it is easier than you think. Any blog post I do now gets on the top Google right away. The quickest I have seen my blog post hit the top page of Google is within 14 minutes, that’s fast.

Is there a way to do SEO if you don’t have a self-hosted blog and are just using the WordPress site? I don’t see a way to do it from the admin pages. I started my blog on Jan. 1 and nobody is reading it yet, so I have some work to do….

You absolutely can. Just get the all in one SEO pack plugin from the plugin search and upload it and you can set your SEO parameters for each blog post, I use it all the time.

Very interesting statistics however i would be interested to know how many unique accounts this breaks down to, as that would dictate how many players of each faction would be on at a given time. In my guild we have a number of ¡°altaholics¡± which would skew these numbers.
