The dreaded starchy carbs can keep that unwanted pesky fat from going away. There is some mixed data on this topic when to eat and when not to eat those starchy carbs. I am going to clear this up once and for all, here we go.
Starchy carbohydrates are those foods like potatoes, pastas, breads, beans which turn to sugar. That unused sugar then turns into fat. Of course if you are very active then that fat gets burned off. Most people are not that active with all these computer jobs and desk jobs. And then there is the laziness we all experience from time to time or maybe all the time.
So the question is when to eat and when not to eat starchy carbohydrates so you don’t gain any unwanted weight. Marathon runners are able to get away with this and even those who run daily or who are very active in sports because they burn off those starchy carbs. If you are very active you really don’t have to worry about this question. But for most people the answer coulddefinitely help you in fighting that weight gain or help you lose some of that fat.
Ok enough rambling, here is the answer. You don’t want to eat those kind of carbs in the evening. Because when you eat those carbs you go to sleep and overnight those carbs turn into fat. So you are basically gaining weight overnight in your sleep.
So what do you eat at night? You want to eat some kind of protein preferably a lean meat like fish, chicken or any other kind of meat with low fat content. With that you want to eat some vegetables. You can go steamed or stir fry just don’t cook them until they are soggy and limp. You want the veggies to still be firm and crunchy. My opinion of the perfect meal is fish and veggies, you can’t go wrong with that.
Now some carbs form time to time at night is not so bad as long as you work it off the next day or not eat to many crabs the next day. Don’t go to the extreme of just a protein diet that is not good either. Your body still needs carbs. Eat the carbs in the daytime or in the morning like a cereal or something with a good amount of finer. Just don’t eat them late at night.
So in summary if you want to stay lean keep away from those starchy carbohydrates in the evenings. Eat them when you know you will be more active and less when your less active. Eat most of those carbs in the daytime. This is called carb rotation. Oh yeah and stay away form those processed carbs those are even worse.

Good points…I would note that as someone who really doesn’t write on blogs much (in fact, this may be my first post), I don’t think the term “lurker” is very becoming to a non-posting reader. It’s not your fault really , but perhaps the blogosphere could come up with a better, non-creepy name for the 90% of us that enjoy just reading the content .
